Year 6 trip to Didcot

Last week, Year 6 had a wonderful day at Didcot Railway Station, travelling back in time to imagine what life must have been like for evacuees in the Second World War. Dressed up in clothes they might have worn and armed with identity cards and gas masks, the children learnt about different aspects of the War, journeying on a steam train to a new life away from London and hearing about rations and life on a farm. They also learnt about the railways and the important job that workers at Didcot did during the war. With an emergency dash to the air raid shelter as well, the children were completely immersed in 1940s life. A mem
orable day for all.
